Whartscape Outlook: Day 2 Fri. Night @ H&H

FRIDAY JULY 23
H&H BUILDING
10:30pm – 2am

Friday night is what I am labeling the ‘Night of Electronic Haze’. A lot of Chill-wave, hazy electronic infused music will be swimming through your head by nights end.

PicturePlane
Electronic Musician Travis Egedy (PicturePlane) from Colorado is a great DJ to have for the nighttime crowd. It fits into the whole Memory Tapes, Washed out sound, although maybe a little more blippy. You might have heard PicturePlanes remix of Crystal Castles ‘Air War’.

Teen Girl Fantasy
If you were going to go see PicturePlane, then you might as well catch Teen Girl Fantasy as well. Along the same lines, although more minimalistic and Field’esque. I think Whartscape is trying to put people in a bit of a haze on Fri night.

Chandeliers
Out of Chicago, the Chandeliers , kind of like a tribal electronica, live drums mixed in with other soundscapes.
Chandeliers – In The Octagon

Adventure
This might be the chill-out music I am most looking forward to on Fri night. listen

“If Game Boy made soul music, it would sound like this. Both rinky dink and rapturously melodic, Adventure programs dense layers of synth lines and shifting beats that fall together like sonic Tetris. As addictive as a good video game – and you can’t lose.” -SPIN

Moss of Aura
One more time, can we all say together “Chill-Wave”. This all sounds very nice, but you might want to smoke a little catnip before you head over.

Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez
It’s nice when going through these line-ups and finding someone you have yet to hear the strike a chord (get it) with you. This is some salt-of-the-earth folk music, strumming acoustic music with a driving rhythm and a unique voice. Has a bit of the that medieval Midlake sound, but a lot less dramatic.
