Radiohead “Good Morning Mr. Magpie” from 2007 (Now on “King Of Limbs”)

Sounds like the band hashed this one out a little bit. Also I didn’t realize saying “Good Morning, Mr Magpie” was a British salutation to a bird to ward off bad luck.

“Seems little strange, doesn’t it, that saluting a bird could ward off bad luck? Yet in many parts of the United Kingdom spying a single magpie is considered an omen of bad fortune in saluting it is a way of showing the proper respect in hopes that the magpie won’t pass on some of the misfortune follows it.”

Music Bits: Cut Copy Mix, New Radiohead Album, LCD Sellout

Here are some music bits from the past couple days or so:

Cut Copy put an hour mix together that’s good mix of their influences:
A Tale of Two Journeys (Mixtape) by cutcopymusic

UPDATE: you can download the mix here.

Radiohead will be releasing their new album, King Of Limbs, digitally on saturday, which will surely bring the “indie” music worlds productivity levels to a halt for a good day or 20.  Seems like a nice way to recover from your post-grammy hangover.

LCD Soundsystem announced their farewell show to be held at Madison Square Garden, where they promise a 3 hour set including rarely played songs, epic dance-offs, and overall sweetness.  Then it promptly sold out in about 2 mins, magically to mostly scalpers (shocker), then Mr. Murphy promptly went justifiably crazy.

I myself was on ticketmaster right at 11AM and for the first 4 minutes was told by ticketmaster’s website that the tickets weren’t for sale yet.  Once they allowed me to try purchasing tickets at 11:04, i was told they were already sold out.  In an anger-induced attempt to get some miracle ticket, i filled in captchas for an hour to no avail.  *sigh*

PS – pitchfork lambasted Bright Eyes’ new record calling it “a wildly spiritual record without any spirit.”  OUCH.

thom

Some of the songs I knew some I didn’t, but there wasn’t really a way to listen to the songs and I didn’t have time to go searching for the songs on my own. Thanks to reddit, someone found a hidden Office Chart Player on the page where you can play all the songs with the videos.

Also, there is an algorithm that you can run through the post that will result in a cryptic message that tells a sequence to play the entire Radiohead catalog in. When the songs are played in that sepecific sequence, then an Alien from outerspace, who calls himself “Gawd”, will land on earth and reveal the TRUTH OF MAAAANN!! (echo echo echo echo).

See it here and give that guy an upvote if you have a sec.
