Live M83 on Jimmy Fallon
M83′s ability to floor me with their live performances – even more than their records can, which is no small feat – is simply amazing. Their recent visit to Jimmy Fallon proves it even further.

This isn’t really a video at all for “outro”, but M83 seems to be the perfect accompaniment to epic nature videos so thought it was fitting and worth posting on (plus it’s a beautiful video):

Here is a new video for Future Islands‘ “Give Us The Wind” off of their new album On The Water, which Brent put together a nice review of.
Also M83 just released their first video off their new album Hurry Up We’re Dreaming; which Pitchfork gave a overly-high rating of 9.1 and the coveted BNM.
After a ton of listens I would personally give it around a 7.5: a pretty damn good album that trips over itself by forcing too many weak tracks into a double album, not to mention the repetitively grating yelps -for-vocals Mr. Gonzalez has recently discovered.

… at the Urban Outfitters Blog?! Who knew UO even had a blog?

Anyways, we’ve been listening to this album for the past few weeks and it’s a grower. The album, like 99% of double albums, could be trimmed down by 4 or 5 songs. It feels a bit all over the place and there are some pretty strange songs on it, and not necessarily strange in a good way. Did you ever think you would hear M83 use a slap bass on a song?
Despite a few missteps, or just songs that don’t really flow into the rest, this will grow on you and you will find yourself listening to it over and over again. It’s just hard to get a read on it as a whole. I think I was hoping for something that was more like Dead Cities, Lost Souls over the duration of the album, but I can respect an artist that tries out something new with every release.
Stream it here (w/ interview).
