Stream Mount Eerie’s ‘Wind’s Poem’
“Do you like your black metal? Do you like your black metal on weeeeeeddd?”.

Phil Elverum’s Mount Eeerie is self-described as “black wooden”, which I think is a perfect name for this kind of music, and also shows his love for Twin Peaks and Black Metal bands as well. Elvrum’s “broken analog” style remains true and blue on this album as it does with any past Mount Eerie albums and Microphones album.. it’s the closest thing to listening to a vinyl record on your ipod.
These songs have a ton of texture on them, creating a rich sonic landscape that can really draw you in. Lay in bed, put on some headphones and you’ll love this album, it also might work in a traffic jam (but probably would be a bad idea to play at your next party, unless it has some “Stare at the wall” theme to it). The beginning of the album has a pretty ambient feel to it and then you see where the metal comes in.
The great NPR music music site has it available for streaming (Embedded below) and I’ve included two mp3′s for your downloading pleasure.
(on a side-note.. i didn’t realize the beeping was coming from this picture while listening to the album, I thought it was throughout the entire thing!!!! and i was just thinking .. ‘wow, how experimental of him’ ).
