Screaming Masterpeice: Bang Gang

Pitchfork TV’s “One Week Only” feature this week is, Screaming Masterpiece, a documentary on Iceland’s music scene, specifically:

Through live performances and interviews with artists like artists like Björk, Sigur Rós, and Múm, director Ari Alexander Ergis Magnusson tries to find out why the country has such a wealth of musical talent.

In the latter half of chapter 1 they featured a band who upon first listen i thought was My Bloody Valentine, but was actually Bang Gang. I thought, “i have to find out more about this band”. Turns out, the band is mainly Barði Jóhannsson , and the song featured in the movie, “Find What You Get”, is off of his second album, Something Wrong (2003). Turns out he has a new album coming sometime this year which features vocals from M83’s Anthony Gonzalez. Small world. You can hear the new songs on Bang Gang’s myspace page.

I can’t wait to get home and watch the documentary in it’s entirety. Looks cool.

They also have footage of Bjork in her first band Tappi Tikarrass, where she is about 18 years old…but doesn’t look a lick over 14.
