Rumor: The Smiths to Reunite for Coachella ‘09
I don’t know if i could think of any better news to get first thing on a friday morning than a semi-legitimate report that The Smiths might be doing a reunion show at Coachella 2009. as of right now, they are pretty much the #1 band on my list to get back together (talking heads are a close 2nd) so this would be amazing. Here are the details:
Tabloid reports have claimed that The Smiths are considering reuniting for the Coachella music festival. The 1980s indie band have been offered £2.8 million by organisers, according to The Sun. However, the singer’s manager Irving Azoff is reportedly keen for the band members to resolve their differences. “It has looked impossible in the past but suddenly it all looks like it could happen,” said a source. “The buzz around the people who used to work for the band is they could play Coachella for a ludicrous amount of money. It’s closer than it ever has been. The split was a messy affair, but time’s a healer.”
This seems to make sense since they just came out with a new best-of album (The Sound of The Smiths), and would make sense to promote it. Let the Coachella rumor season begin!
