QLP’s Inbox Survival Of the Fittest

Here at Quarterlifeparty, we get the occasional (try about 20+ a day) email promoting a band. Sometimes we write a post on each band…but lately it’s been a bit overwhelming so in an effort to clean things up a bit and still be able to talk about the stuff we’ve been diggin’, here it is in one post: the bands that survived the dreaded gmail archive button. No easy feat. I’ll try to keep it short and sweet.

Ezra Furman & The Harpoons – We Should Fight (MP3)
We posted about Ezra & The Harpoons back in January and now they are set to release their second album, Inside the Human Body, October 7th. This song has a guitar riff that somehow reminds me of the killers…but other than that this is straight up driving rock with CYHSY-esque vocals. Good stuff.

Thomas White – The Runaround (MP3)
The Electric Soft Parade – Happiness (Elliott Smith Cover) (MP3)
Thomas White is half of the mercury prize nominated band Electric Soft Parade. I have never heard anything from that band, but Thomas’ solo effort, I Dream of Black, “a home crafted dream-scape of whirring synths, psych-guitar and White’s instantly recognizable vocals”, is pretty solid. Reminds me of The Dandy Warhols. Stream the entire album.
Buy the Album on iTunes.

The Ettes – Marathon (MP3)
The Ettes remind me of Land of Talk…only a bit more punk. Not sure what else to say about this song. It’s catchy, short, and sweet. Their second album, Look at Life Again Soon, comes out Sept. 9th. But you can buy it on iTunes now.
