New Yo La Tengo MP3, Album
On Matador’s presser for Yo La tengo’s upcoming album, Popular Songs, it states “We have an old saying at Matador HQ, ‘the only thing predictable about Yo La Tengo albums is their high level of excellence and crazy amount of musical ground covered’”, and based on this track alone, i would have to agree. The only thing that tips the hat that it’s even from the same band is the familar vocals of Ira Kaplan.

This song starts off with a good lazy blues bass line and then midway through switches into doo-wop style backing vocals, all laid underneath a plodding, catchy vocal track; yet somehow it still reminds of of Yo la tengo, maybe just because you never know what you’re gonna get with them, and that’s part of their charm.
The album comes out Sept. 8th
