A couple weeks ago brent sent me the video below of Mazzy Star doing a live version of “Fade Into You” and it got me wondering what Hope Sandoval was up to these days….turns out writing a new album.  Which is good news because her voice is amazing…if not entrancing.  She’s what i like to call a “Wheaties box” singer; meaning she could sing whatever is written on the back of a wheaties box and it would more than likely still sound amazing.

So anyways, her upcoming album Through the Devil Softly will be released September 29th, and although these initial tracks don’t quite reach the awesomeness of anything from Mazzy Star, it’s still pretty damned good.  She will also be touring in support of the album for the first time in 9 years (according to the press release anyways).  Dates after the jump.
