MishMash: Tallest Man on Earth, Califone, The Books…

Not sure how I missed Califone’s All My Friends Are Funeral Singers last year, and it seems like there were many others who did as well because I didn’t see it on many end of the year lists, it wasn’t even in the p4K top 50 (although not sure what that says). I’ve always been a big fan of Califone and they always seem to sneak under the radar with albums they put out. Their sound is very unique, like a psychedelic country grunge, the touches of horns and piano’s on this album really add a lot. Listening to the album with headphones on offers a lot of really interested sound dynamics that you might not hear otherwsie.
Califone “Giving Away The Bride”
Califone “Polish Girls”
Tallest Man On Earth has a new song out Tallest Man on Earth “Like The Wheel”. It’s part of a 5 song EP now available on itunes title Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird.
The Books “I Didn’t Know That”. This is just a wild song, made my walk into work this morning more interesting. I guess I didn’t know that the Books sounded like this.
The Nels Cline Singers play a Tiny Desk Concert, guitar players everywhere give up playing guitar.
Been loving this dancerific, jackson 5′ish song by Miami Horror “Holidays”
Check out the new Jesus & Mary Chain, although I can’t help but get into this song.
I think I listened to this song 10 times in the past 24 hours. Lower Dens “I Get Nervous”. Buy the album, it’s completely worth it.
Bear in Heaven perform on a roof at sunset for p4K’s ‘Don’t Look Down’ finale.
Sorry for the lack of video embeds, p4k’s embed codes are acting wonky.
