Introducing: The Whitsundays

Alberta Canada band The Whitsundays describe their sound on myspace as “a soccer match in ’67 between the kinks and the zombies using syd barrett as the ball.” And I pretty much agree with that, although I would add in a touch of Belle & Sebastian for good measure. They are on the Friendly Fire label, which is also home to Quarterlife favs Asobi Seksu and The Faunts (although they sound much different then those bands).

I’ll let the music speak for itself:

The Whitsundays – It Must Be Me
(MP3)
The Whitsundays – Sorry James (MP3)

Their self-titled album came out January 22nd, and you can buy it here.
