Drive Soundtrack
I watched the new Ryan Gosling movie Drive last night and it was a pretty badass movie, In true 80′s fashion (that reminded me a bit of Michael Mann’s Thief). The previews didn’t really do it justice and didn’t capture the feel of the movie at all… it made it seem a lot more like a generic action movie when it’s actually pretty slow moving (in a good way), there are a lot of awkward silences between Goslings character and Carey Mulligan (seriously, who actually just stares at each other for that long in real life without saying anything).
But I digress, one of the best parts of the film is the soundtrack that is full of 80′s inspired electro-pop. I feel like part of the sountrack sounds really familiar as well, I want to say that they use bits from Trent Reznor’s Social Network soundtrack in some parts of the movie but can’t confirm this anywhere (has a movie ever borrowed form another original soundtrack before?).
This is one of the prominent songs on the soundtrack.
tracklist:
01 “Nightcall” – Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx
02 “Under Your Spell” – Desire
03 “A Real Hero” – College feat. Electric Youth
04 “Oh My Love” – Riz Ortolani feat. Katyna Ranieri
05 “Tick of the Clock” – The Chromatics
06 “Rubber Head”
07 “I Drive”
08 “He Had a Good Time”
09 “They Broke His Pelvis”
10 “Kick Your Teeth”
11 Where’s The Deluxe Version?”
12 “See You in Four”
13 “After The Chase”
14 “Hammer”
15 “Wrong Floor”
16 “Skull Crushing”
17 “My Name on a Car”
18 “On The Beach”
19 “Bride of Deluxe”

Parts of the social network soundtrack are used. I can confirm that 100%

I heard the Social Network soundtrack peeking through too. Can’t find any official word on its inclusion, and this article is literally the only reference I could find. But it’s definitely there

The track ‘Where’s the Deluxe Version?’ from the Drive soundtrack is slightly similar to TSN’s ‘Hand Covers Bruise’.

but yeah, it was one of the best soundtracks ever imho

Definitely agree that Drive used pieces of music from The Social Network. Closest thing I found to proof was this video from a random youtube user comparing two scenes (in what appears to be an attempt at proving his friend ‘Nick’ wrong.)

Yes, The Social Network shows up for a smidge, but also a song from Brian Eno, which had been used in both 28 Days Later and Traffic

Yeah, heard social network in there, and pulled me out totally, just kept me thinking it didn’t fit as well here as it did in its original movie.

What about the angelo badalamenti credits in the beginning?

Hand Covers Bruise from The Social Network was used in the workprint version of the film, currently circulating as an R5 on torrent/p2p websites. It doesn’t appear in the final theatrical cut.

Lol, this is funny. so anyone who noticed the social network soundtrack has blatantly pirated the film.
I too notice the social network immediately and could find no reference to it anywhere, although a lot of soundtracks never give a full release of all music in the film.
I was actually looking for a different song (thanks to Johnny for Brian Eno/28 days later) that I couldn’t remember where I had heard it, but now I have it after a lot of searching, so thank you.

So everybody bitching about the rehashed soundtrack here pirated the movie … that’s cool. Stealing is hilarious … where do you work? I’ll come down there and steal from you. So we can all have a big laugh.
And no I do not work for the movie industry. Seriously, morals … Use them people. It’s not ALL about you.
