Band to watch: Tammar

Caught these guys listening to KEXP while sitting through 8 hours of jury duty yesterday (slitting wrists now).  They sound like a combination of joy division, velvet underground,  My Bloody Valentine, and a few other modern shoegazy/pysychedelic bands.  It just has some great atmosphere and judging from their live videos on youtube  it looks like they put on a good show.  They have a self-title 5-song ep that you can get for $4.99 on  Other Music or you can listen to it in full on Lala.  The album has a lot of great hazy washed out sounds with some moody, echoey, yet aggressive vocals.  “Hot Juice” veers a little bit away from their formula with something a little funkier and danceable, ala Stone Roses “Fool’s Gold”,  showing that this band has some range to it.
