A friend of mine handed me this CD today of Baltimore “band” Tucker Mayer, who is pretty much just singer and songwriter Tommy Tucker who plays with members of Wye Oak and others for the making of this demo. It’s has some pretty impressive songs on it that fit well into that balti-folk sound that is coming up locally that you hear in bands like Small Sur, Noble Lake, and Wye Oak. There is a lot of good instrumentation on this album and the vocal melodies are outstanding. It’s something that I could listen to at any time of the day, it settles in and settles you down. Tucker Mayer will be playing at the Creative Alliance this thursday, I recommend you check it out.

Really new music, I don’t even have an album name or track names (also, the production is a little quiet on some of the songs, so turn your volume up).
