Live M83 on Jimmy Fallon
M83′s ability to floor me with their live performances – even more than their records can, which is no small feat – is simply amazing. Their recent visit to Jimmy Fallon proves it even further.

Calexico have released Selections from Road Atlas 1998-2011, a collection of songs they had only released at live concerts in the past. This might be, in my opinion, one of the best things Calexico has ever put out. Personally I have always been a bit bored by their albums but this might make cause for revisiting their catalog. I especially like their long instrumental “Waitamo”.

This was all recorded live without post-production or a computer using a technique that incorporates 2 turntables and a camera that somehow prints on cardboard. The images used on the turntable are mostly popular album covers. The accompanying narrative reflects upon life’s repetitions to music that I think is Massive Attack.
Just watch and be amazed.

Hysterically apropos that Holy Ghost! just came out with a cover of the early Ministry track “I Wanted to Tell Her” off of their debut album With Sympathy. Seems we were just writing about the early synth-pop era of Ministry. Well done Holy Ghost! (sidenote: i hate that they have an ! in their name cause it forces me to sound like i’m writing in excitedness, when really i’m not) They even redid the original cover art (above).
