Italo Disco Throwback: Kano

So i recently got the debut self-titled 1980 Kano album after years of having it on my list, and i’ll just let the music do the talking. (along with some wiki context…because honestly that’s all i know about these guys/gals):

Kano was a post-disco music project formed in 1979 by Italian-based producers/musicians Luciano Ninzatti, Stefano Pulga and Matteo Bonsanto. They were one of the first groups to usher in a style of dance music called Italo-Disco, a blend of 1970s disco and funk with more emphasis on synthesizers and other electronic instruments.

“I’m Ready” was not only the song that [allegedly] started Italo-Disco, but it was also one of the songs that [allegedly] paved the way for the developing culture of Hip-Hop, as it became an American breakdance classic.

John Maus “Cop Killer” , “Believer”

Just started digin ginto the new John Maus We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves album and this is the song that stood out to me on first listen. The first few songs were a little tough for me to get through because they seemed too derivitive of Joy Division, but once you get deeper into the album you start to hear more of an 80′s synth influence.

Also, available to download, is the great album closer “Believer”. You can purchase the album here.

Video: New M83 Album Teaser

Anthony Gonzalez, lead braniac behind M83, has been saying his upcoming new album will be going back to their “epic” type style of previous albums such as Before The Dawn Heals Us and Dead Cities, Red Seas, and Lost Ghosts and this video gives a hint of that level of “circle of life” grandeur. Can. Not. Wait.
