New Budos Band Live Video: “Budos Rising”

Here is a new sweet live video of “Budos Rising” from the The Budos Band’s criminally underrated 2010 album The Budos Band III.  There hasn’t been anyone yet who hasn’t liked this album that i’ve played it for: psychedelic-jam-freakout awesomeness.  Something i could easily see sound-tracking the next Tarantino movie.

New Holy Ghost! Tracks

So LCD Soundsystem are finally hanging up their synthesizers and cowbells…what will you do?!   What else can you dance your face off too when it comes to disco/dance-punk throwback bands? Enter DFA’s Holy Ghost!, who, while in no way a replacement to LCD (who is?), might soften the blow when they release their self-titled debut album on April 12th (5th on iTunes).

I really got into their Static On The Wire EP this past summer, and although they’re still pretty new to the scene, they definitely are heading in a good direction.

Bill Callahan “Baby’s Breath”

Ever since the last Bill Callahan album I havent been able to get enough of Bill Callahan. He’s like a weird modern Johnny Cash with his talky voice and always interesting lyrics. There are parts of the album that even get a bit heavy, as in distortion. Highly Recommended.

Love this song around the 3:10 mark where the guitar starts to kick in.

The Weeknd Turns Beach House’s “Master of None” Into An R&B Song

Apparently we have an R&B trend on our hands with artists like Francis & The Lights, Gaayngs, Fritz and The Tantrums, James Blake and now The Weeknd. The album just got BNM on Pitchfork today and it’s definitely deserves the score. There are a few songs that burn a little too slow for my tastes, but overall it’s a very solid album. There are some really great, albeit raunchy, lyrics on a lot of these songs.
The highlight of the album for me was when I heard Beach House being sampled on the song “The Party & The After Party”, which they reprise later on the album.
