Stream Bright Eyes’ The People’s Key Album

NPR is streaming Bright Eyes’ upcoming album The People’s Key in it’s entirety, and decribes it as follows:

I won’t mince words: This is the best record Bright Eyes has ever made. In fact, it’s the best record the band’s frontman, Conor Oberst, has ever been a part of. Publicists like to say as much any time an artist releases a new album, but in this case, it’s actually true. The People’s Key is a career-defining work of art.

Whoa.  That’s some high praise.  I haven’t listened yet, but lets see if it lives up to the above description. (also, does the cover art remind anyone else of the last MGMT album cover, stylistically?)

ATP NY Announced: Portishead, Jeff Mangum

ATP has just announced their next USA festival: saturday and sunday will be curated (and performed) by Portishead, while friday is curated by ATP and will include a performance by the ellusive Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel). The festival will take place Sept. 30th – Oct. 2nd at NY’s Asbury Park.

This festival is called a I’ll Be Your Mirror event, which they explain “is a new series of artist curated music, film and art events. Acting as sister events to the ATP Festivals, which take place in holiday resorts, I’ll Be Your Mirror retains the curatorial and multiple band and film concept, but will take place in cities worldwide. The events are named after the b-side to The Velvet Underground’s original All Tomorrow’s Parties 7″ single, released in 1966.”
