Awsome Sleigh Bells MP3: “Tell ‘Em”

sleighbells

Sleigh Bells were another highlight from coachella.  They only played for about 30 minutes, but that’s probably because they don’t even have a proper EP out yet (just a CD-R and a couple other songs), but that 30 mins was more than enough to make an impact.  On the power of just a couple songs, pitchfork has already dubbed them a band to watch, and after seeing them myself I can see why.  I can’t even really describe it: grime, bmore house, ratatat guitar licks, crystal castles screams, i could keep going.

Might be easier for you to just listen to their first song off their upcoming full-length release Treats:

Stream New MIA Song “Born Free”

born free

MIA’s new video (NSFW) for “Born Free” seems to be burning up the web with controversy.  Personally i think it’s pretty bad ass.  More importantly though, the song itself finds MIA going in a less electronic and more punk/band direction.  So to me the focus should really be on that, not the video.  It begs the question, is MIA going the route of MGMT after her “Paper Plane” success, basically saying “i am gonna do whatever the f i want, and you might not like it”?  I wouldn’t expect anything less from her, and i hope she does.

Sally Shapiro – Save Your Love (Lovelock Remix) MP3

remixescover

As i wrote about a bit ago, Sally Shapiro is coming out with a remix EP of their wonderful 2009 release My Guilty Pleasure.  Johan (the 2nd half of Sally Shapiro) was nice enough to send me the Lovelock remix of “Save Your Love”, which slows down the tempo a bit and turns up the “sexy quotient”.  Really digging this.

Stream The National’s High Violet Now

the-national_high-violet

I’ve had the pleasure of listening to an advanced copy of The National’s upcoming album High Violet (out 5/11) the past week, and all i can say is go to the New York Times website to stream it ASAP (available until 4/27).  This might be their best album to date, and this is coming from a pretty huge fan of Alligator. This album takes the intensity of Alligator and mixes in the atmospheric beauty of Boxer…and then some.

The National certainly won’t be making it easy on anyone come best of 2010 list time.

Stream High Violet here.
