10 Years of Beck’s Mellow Gold
No, this is not the 10 year anniversary of Mellow Gold, that would have been in 2004, but this is a documentary on the making of Mellow Gold that was released in 2004. I had never seen this before, and it’s pretty interesting.
Now, I always imagined the recording of Mellow Gold involving Beck on a farm somewhere in the middle of nowhere, with a lot of junked up cars sitting outside a barn. Beck on an 8-track in a barn with a bunch of livestock, huffing paint and sucking nitrous, and laying down tracks. So I was a little disappointed when I found out that this album actually had a producer on it and was recorded in a studio. But it still is pretty interesting, and it’s cool to see early Beck performances when he looked 12.
