These are some great and intense pics of the show Rage put on yesterday at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, ( beautiful photography by Tim Hussin and Noah Rabinowitz). Almost makes Denver look like a police state. Funny what peace looks like.
Rage Against the Machine joined with Iraq Veterans Against the War and approximately 7000 protesters and concert goers to deliver a message to Barack Obama urging him to stick to his anti-war platform.
The remix begins pretty quietly then slowly fades in 15 seconds in. I couldn’t find the original so hard to tell how much different this mix is.. but it definitely doesn’t have the Juggernauts electronic sound in it. Its a pretty minimal remix in it with a little fuzz giving it an old school analog feel.
What a cute, heartwarming song. I would have put this on a mixtape back in middle school and given it to some girl i liked who would have just thought I was creepy and end up ignoring me. But you know she would take that mixtape back home and lay in bed and think about the dude on the football team who she likes who is ignoring her.. and the cycle goes on and on. Her Space Holiday is Mark Bianchi, and has an album coming out called XOXO, Panda and the New Kid Revival through Mush Records.
Earlier today on radiohead’s blog, Dead Air Space, there was an archaic post titled “might come in handy” informing everyone to make sure they have the right video players ready to go. At first i thought it peculiar, but now i am getting information that they will be web-casting tonights show live, so it makes perfect sense. Sah-weet. Show is allegedly supposed to start at 12PM EST.
Sidestory: In regards to their Neil Young cover the other day in LA, i got this great story from my friend in the front lines from the previous night’s show:
I was at the show in Auburn when they first played it last Wednesday. They started with Faust Arp, and Thom screwed up the first verse. He started it again, and somehow ended up playing the riff from “Tell Me Why” (which I immediately recognized, of course). I was in the front row screaming my lungs out for Thom to actually SING the song, but he couldn’t remember all the lyrics so he kept getting discouraged. Jonny was doing pretty well on the accompanying guitar though, so they kept it going for nearly half the song. Then Phil came out from the stage wings and dropped an American $1 bill at Thom’s feet. They all busted out laughing and that was the end. They launched back into Faust Arp, and Thom looked straight at me, shrugged his shoulders and stuck his tongue out the side of his mouth like, “Oh well, I tried!”
“I’ll Find You and I’ll Kill You…. I’ll Find You And I’ll Kill You”… have this going through your ehad all day with Gaalen’s creepy (but also really cool) monster animations in this video.
After watching First Aid Kits cover of Fleet Foxes last night about 50 times I searched, not hard, for some other live footage of the girls. Good shite. Somtimes the voices remind me of Rilo Key (More Adventurous), sometimes the Swedish accent gets a little Bjorkish on some words, and sometimes they go a little Neko Case. But overall seeing these young girls sing about such depressing material gives me the shivers.
Playing Live on Belinda on TV8 (I love that show!)
So i am bit late on this one (thnks P4K), but i just got back from a great long weekend in montreal (more on that later), but here is a video of radiohead perfectly performing Neil Young’s “Tell Me Why”. Which is kind of appropriate because my two friends who i consider to be the biggest radiohead fans i know both LOVE Neil Young. Coincidence? i think not.
German Expressionist films rule…The Walkmen’s “In The New Year” rules, abstract images thrown over both rules even more. Thanks P4k for this sweet video.
Just caught this at the end of the day from Music for Robots that deserves to get out there. Two girls that call themselves First Aid Kit, amazing voices set an incredible atmosphere doing a cover of Fleet Foxes “Mountain Peasant Song”
Okkervil River have started their own Youtube channel where fans can and artists can submit their own cover versions of Okkervil River songs. So far they have artists such as Bon Iver and David Vandervelde pitching in. Here are a couple videos:
